Friends, Based on the photographs that I
have seen, the reports that I have read and the people that I have
talked with - I have decided that it would be best to find an
alternative location for the Santa Barbara 9 Trails 35 Mile Endurance
Run again this year. The Jesusita Fire has effected much of the 9 Trails
course. I have little doubt that the forestry would deny a
permit. The trails look destroyed and the chance of erosion and further
destruction is too great. See the above photo of upper Cold Springs
Trailhead and the below photo of Inspiration Point. It is not realistic to send 100+ people running through that.
I will now proceed to create another race on Saturday,
November 28, 2009. The simultaneous distances will be 50M and 50K.
Pending permits the location will be Montana De Oro State Park in Los
Osos California. http://www.slostateparks.com/montana_de_oro/default.asp Start
time will be 6:30AM.
