The start / finish line is the Red Rock Day Use Area near the end of Paradise Road in the Los Padres National Forest. The drive from downtown Santa Barbara is about one hour on a dark, windy, mountain road - plan accordingly.

FIRE DANGERS
The residents of the Santa Barbara Red Rock area are extremely fire sensitive - with good reason - please be careful and respectful.
PARKING
All vehicles parked in the Los Padres National Forest / Red Rock area must display a valid Adventure Pass. You can purchase a pass at any Ranger Station, Big 5 Sporting Goods Store or at the Paradise Campground on Friday afternoon prior to the run. Purchase your pass PRIOR to race day. You may park in the Red Rock Day Use Area or the Red Rock parking lot located .5 miles down from the S/F area . These are both primitive parking areas - no lights. Be prepared. Bring a flashlight.
DROP BAGS
Bring your drop bags to the start / finish area at 5:00 a.m. on race day. Bags will be transported to Camino Cielo and Romero Canyon only. Drop bags MAY be returned to the start / finish area at the volunteers convenience. Do not put anything of value in your drop bag - you may not see that bag again. Drop bags will not be mailed to you after the run.
AID STATIONS
Aid will be minimal but adequate.
All runners must carry a minimum of 40 oz of fluid - 2 bottles.
Emergency only water at miles 9, 16, 24 and 31.
Full aid will be at miles 12, 20 and 28.
COURSE MARKINGS
There will be minimal but adequate course marking. Yellow Montrail marking ribbon and chalk on the ground. You are responsible for your own safety. By this point, you should know the course. If not, run with someone who does.
CUT OFFS
As a courtesy to our volunteers and our agreement with the USFS - we must be off of the course prior to 9:00 p.m. Cut off times will be enforced. Mile 20 Romero Canyon 12:00 noon. Mile 28 Camino Cielo Road 4:00 p.m. We can not guarantee transportation back to the start / finish area. Please plan accordingly.
DID NOT FINISH
We assume that everyone who starts the run intends to complete the entire 40 mile distance. If you must drop out of the run - you must report to an aid station captain. Make sure that you DNF is recorded and called into the finish area. It is your responsibility to tell us if you leave the course. If we can not account for you we will be forced to call Search and Rescue and report you as missing. This is very dangerous, expensive, embarrassing and unnecessary. Please check out at an aid station before departing the race course.
