THIS IS THE FINAL COMMUNICATION PRIOR TO THE RUN - READ IT THOROUGHLY

9 Trailers, The 18th Annual Santa Barbara 9 Trails 35 Mile Endurance Run is just one week away. Please read the following information carefully. There are several new items that will effect all of us. I apologize for all of the rules, but the run has grown. In an effort to insure the future of the race, I have been forced to create some new guidelines. Please help me. Read the following information and follow it. As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions. I will look forward running with all of you next Saturday. Luis Escobar

Pre- Run Dinner -

As of today, there are five spots open for the pre-run dinner at Savoy. Information is available on the website. Please contact me now for your reservation.

Drop Bags -

Drop Bags will be taken to Gibraltar Road Aid and Romero Canyon Aid only. Drop Bags must be delivered to Santa Barbara Running Company, 110 Anacapa on Friday, November 23 until 5:00PM. There is no race day drop bag location. Please mark your bags clearly with your name, phone number and the aid station that you want it delivered to. Please note that we will not be responsible for items that are not claimed after the run. I will not store, deliver or mail your drop bag items to you after the run. The drop bags will be available for pick up after the run when it is convenient for the aid station volunteers to return them to the Cater start / finish area. Do not use paper bags or cooler / ice chests. Never put anything in a drop bag that you can not afford to lose.

Race Day Check In & Bib Number Pick Up -

5:00 to 5:45AM - Saturday, November 28 - BIB NUMBERS WILL  BE HANDED OUT AT THE CATER START / FINISH AREA ONLY -  NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO START THE RACE WITHOUT A 9 TRAILS BIB NUMBER AFFIXED TO AND DISPLAYED ON THE FRONT OF THEIR BODIES.

Parking -

Because parking at the Cater start / finish area is extremely limited, you will be required to car pool to the start / finish Do not try to park at the start / finish area solo. Only cars with two or more runners will be allowed to park on San Roque Road. There can be no exceptions. Please help us with this. There will be a parking monitor to greet you when you arrive, he will check the cars and direct you where to park. Follow his direction. Plan accordingly.

Course Marking -

The course will be meticulously over marked with yellow ribbon from start to finish. However, vandalism sometimes happens, which means that some course markings might be maliciously removed. You are solely responsible for navigating your way through the Santa Barbara Front Country. If you are unwilling to accept this responsibility, do not start the run.

Lights -

Start 6:30AM - there will be sufficient light at this hour, lights will not be necessary

After 2:00PM, no one will be allowed to depart the Gibraltar Road Aid Station (mile 26) without a working light. The race will not provide you with a light - pack your own. Please plan accordingly.

DNF -

(did not finish) We assume that everyone who starts the run intends to complete the entire 35 mile distance. If you must drop out of the run, you must report to an aid station and make sure that your DNF is recorded and called into the finish area. It is your responsibility to tell us when and where you depart the course. If you leave the course and do not tell us, we will be forced to call Search and Rescue and report you as missing. This is very dangerous, expensive, embarrassing and unnecessary. Please check out at an aid station before departing the race course.
